about me

Hi, I'm Michelle! I’m a documentary filmmaker passionate about storytelling that connects people to our planet.

I'm a freelance director, camera operator, and editor, and have produced work for

Fujifilm & Aquatech, National Wildlife Federation, Ffern, Alice Boyd, Bastille, The Association of Foragers, among others. I have also worked in a variety of editorial and production roles for clients and organizations including the Academy of Motion Pictures, Scripps News, Turtle Conservancy, Netflix, BBC Digital, and Project Impact. I am based in London, UK.

I have a strong background in impact-led filmmaking, working across campaigns, documentaries, and short form creative projects. My work has taken me to the Arctic, South Pacific, Europe and North America for topics including the trade in tortoises and tigers, the emerging discussion on whether to mine the deep sea, the accelerating loss of Arctic sea ice, protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil drilling, shifting outdated policy on America's wild horses, stopping development of the largest oil field proposed in the North Sea, and more.

I hold a Master of Science in Biodiversity & Conservation at the University of Oxford, a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology at New York University, and am a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

I am interested in working on documentaries and creative projects that explore emergent environmental issues, foster connection to nature, or seek to expand storytelling in new and creative ways. Please feel free to reach out at: michellebsandersfilm@gmail.com
